Previously known by the pen name; W.H. Fordham. For various reasons I now need to use my real name, John A. Read. (Apologies for any confusion.)

I started writing in the 1970s. My work has been seen in Television; Radio; Newspapers & Magazines from Ireland to Australia.

Many of my stories have won superb reviews and the much coveted 'Cherry' award on the highly respected literary website ABC Tales.

I am a member of the RBSA. (Royal Birmingham Society Of Artists.) My work has been exhibited and I still hold

How They Broke Britain by James O'Brien
"I’ve never listened to James O’Brien’s radio show nor read his previous books, so I went into How They Broke Britain knowing little of the man except for my vague impression that he’s a self-important, sanctimonious, uninteresting loudmouth. Ten hour" Read more of this review »

John Read Just added a new Short Story - The Caretaker. A romantic ghost story with a moral and an ending that will have the hairs standing up on the back of your neck and romantics reaching for the tissues.

John Read Insane ! Five Star review on Amazon has compared me to Dickens !! I think the reviewer must have been smoking 'something exotic'. It also says; " Author is sure to produce a prize winner." I do hope so.
Dickens though ? It doesn't get any better than that does it ?
