Benjamin Descovich is a long name for a fellow better known as Ben. As a boy he rolled dice, adventuring through magic worlds with dragons, wizards and warriors. He feasted upon epic fantasy books by J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Anne McCaffrey then devoured the multitude of Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms books among many others.

Ben’s an author who’s passionate about the environment and social justice and holds a degree in Political Science. Born in Australia and well travelled through Europe and Asia, he’s been spoilt with inspiration for his fiction. While the dramatic landscapes, political intrigue and epic battles will captivate your imagination; the dragons and magic will take your breath away.

Essentially 'the wedge' has been responsible for me being a great house husband. There are always chores that need doing and 'the wedge' lodges itself between a good day's productive writing and good day's laundry. Random, not-so-urgent errands in town are a great way to fall behind on my writing schedule. Finishing the next quest, or levelling up on a favourite RPG are also activities where 'the wedge' saps my diligence juice.(less)

I haven't stopped aspiring and neither should you. However, the secret to writing well isn't aspiration. That part is essential, but it's also a bit slippery. Dreams and goals are beautiful, bright and shiny, but they won't give you any traction for success. You've got to roll up your sleeves at some point and march into battle with reality. Open your work up to genuine critique. Take the hard knocks and get back up. Shed some skin and bleed a little. Cop it all on the chin and forge ahead. Your writing will be all the better for it.(less)
