They meet between boxing bags and even though opposites attract, Cricket’s father is being implicated for money laundering, and Theo is the lead investigator on the case.
Will four rounds be enough to discover true love? Or will disastrous dates end their chance at happiness? Find out with this slightly silly but absolutely fun fight for love.

It's all about choice

Last night in the Weight Watchers meeting, a woman received her Lifetime status as she'd lost 143 pounds. What an amazing achievement! The leader then asked her if she had any words of wisdom, and she essentially said, "It's about choice." She chose to live a healthy lifestyle and make the changes necessary to lose the weight. And honestly, I agree. I've been on Weight Watchers for about a year and a half now. Over the holidays I slacked a bit, but I'm back on the wagon and plan to hit Lifetime by July. I can do it, because as this amazing champion said last night, it's about choice, and I can make the right choices. Living healthy isn't easy, I'll have to sacrifice, but I think in the end I'll be pretty proud of myself. Find a group of people who support you on your journey. Who understand how hard reaching those goals can be and have them remind you to make good choices. Yet, at the same time, know it's you who has to make those decisions. I'll keep at it and let you know if I hit goal in July.

SPOTLIGHT IS LIVE!

Picture Rolling Rocker news reporter shines the spotlight on Apollo band mates’ Freddie Davis and TJ Hardwood. While interviewing Freddie for a piece on intimate partner violence, the reporter learns the two men really do make beautiful music together—both on and off the stage.

As childhood friends, TJ and Freddie Davis had a singular goal—to become rock stars. But now that they’ve reached the pinnacle of success, they’ve drifted apart—a fact demonstrated by TJ’s “living like a Greek god” lifestyle.
Attempting to move on from his unrequited love for TJ, Freddie begins a relationship with the band’s security guard. When the relationship takes a dark turn, his cymbals aren’t the only things crashing.
After seeing Freddie’s bruised face, TJ confesses his desperate longing to have Freddie back in his life—and his bed. Plus TJ knows he’ll need his long time friend when cancer takes its toll on a loved one.
When these two lovers step into the Spotlight, they learn that money and fame can’t save them from life’s harsh realities and only together can they find the right rhythm.

SEE ME - The Novus Pack Book 1

Throughout history, The Lady, Goddess of the Lycan world, has gifted werewolf packs with humans who carry her mark. Theodora Morrissey’s plans to return to college for her graduate degree are ended when she is awakened by an otherworldly voice on a rarely used airstrip in Nebraska. Injured and disoriented, she has no idea the discoloration on her back has marked her as a Seer, and that she is now a possession—and the prisoner—of the Novus Pack of Lycans.

To the Novus pack, the word of their leader, their Laird, is the law. With compelling gray eyes and long dark hair, Raider Black rules his pack with intelligence and ruthlessness. To cement the security of his pack, Black has committed to mate another Packleader's daughter. But he’s finding it impossible to fight his attraction to the pack’s alluring new Seer, claiming her as his own.

Sweet, fearless, and unintentionally funny, Theo upends Black’s world and pushes the boundaries of his rules. How far is Raider willing to go, and what will he sacrifice, to save both his pack and the human Seer who’s found a way not only into his bed, but his heart?

My year on Weight Watchers

General thoughts after a year on Weight Watchers:

A year ago, my Mom and my older sister were have amazing results on Weight Watchers, and they weren’t exercising, which to be honest pissed me off. I’d been trying to lose weight through exercise, and what I thought was eating right, but nothing ever worked. Cue the tears and frustrated, “fuck-this, I’ll just be chubs forever” thoughts.
So after whining to my Mom, she agreed to support me through Weight Watchers for a year and a half since she believed that was how long getting to my optimal weight would take.
Now prior to this, I had done boxing for almost two years then quit for a bit to deal with my whole female-parts fiasco which resulted in a hysterectomy in July of last year.
Anyway, at 230.2 lbs, I started my Weight Watchers journey. Today, as of my home scale, I’m down to 153 lbs.
That’s 77.2 lbs lost which averages at 6.4333 per month.
So, how did I do it? Easy, I followed the Weight Watchers plan.
Okay, not so easy.
Weight Watchers gives you a certain amount of points per day and per week. I’ve found if I stick within daily points and don’t use my weeklies, I have better results. I treat the points like cash, meaning I only have so much money per day to spend. I have to ask myself, if this food worth the cost(points)?
When I first started, I cut everything “white” from my diet: sugar, salt, bread, dairy, rice, pasta, cheese. This is easier for me, because I can’t eat most of those things without them hurting my stomach anyway. Not the sugar or salt but white breads and such. No, I don’t have a gluten allergy, they just upset my stomach. I don’t know why. I still haven’t had regular milk, but I have added in cheese every once in a while.
I also can’t eat red meat because, it gives me a huge gas bubble that hurts like hell, so I don’t eat that either. That’s more to do with age though.
I track all my foods. For real! Every day. I eat a lot of eggs, which at one point was supposedly not healthy for your heart, but I tend to eat one whole egg and the others are just egg whites.
I hit a bit of a plateau this summer so I cut back on fruit and added in more raw vegetables, which helped. My doctor said that my body was likely catching up with the weight loss. He said, my body was like, “Is she starving us? No? Then we’ll let her continue to lose.” Makes sense.
I did add in some bread after a few months but it’s the Dave’s Killer Bread or the Pepperidge Farms light bread, not anything white.
By following this plan, and yes, I exercise three times a week at Title Boxing, which is absolute murder, and I work a part-time job which has me on my feet for 3-7 hours at a time, but I honestly don’t know that exercise has done anything to help me lose weight, but I feel better and I am building muscle which burns fat more efficiently. (Right?)
I still don’t really understand why WW works when nothing else has, so I’ve been reading some books on healthy eating.
The most recent book I read advocates the Atkins and Keto health plans based on how insulin responds to the food/sugar in your body. I’m not getting into the science behind all that because I am not a scientist or a doctor, and I still don’t quite grasp what he’s saying. (Gary Taubes, Good Calories, Bad Calories). However, Taubes suggests pulling all carbs, including fruits. He is saying to basically eat protein, some good fats, and green leafy veggies. He has a whole diet plan in his book, Why we get fat and what to do about it. The idea of no carbs ever again is hard for a lot of people to go by. He also doesn’t really get into salt intake too much. I, for one, can’t eat many fats or salt, as I just had my heart scanned for plaque and it wasn’t so good but not horrifying-gonna-cut-me-open-tomorrow either.
In the end, I believe we each must find what works for us, and add on top of that our hereditary history which either works for us or against us. Mine is mostly against.
Basically my diet, due to wanting to keep off the weight and to help with this heart issue I apparently have, will continue as: a mix of the Keto with Weight Watchers which I was sort of doing already.
I’m pulling all carbs and sugar again (because lately I was eating candy like Dots, Sour Patch Kids, Nerds) and higher-carb fruits. I’m continuing with more raw vegetables. I’m also adding back in to my diet: avocado and maybe salmon once per week for good fats.
This will not be easy. I am a total salt whore, like major. I also got a taste for sweets when I get off work at night, because “Don’t I deserve them?” No, I do not! LOL
The heart situation put a little fear of God in me so I plan on being much more diligent. In the end, find a plan that works for you. Do a little research into how our bodies process foods. It’s very eye opening. And do a little research into the actual research done on weight loss programs.
I went twenty years at around 80 pounds overweight and the only thing that’s ever worked is Weight Watchers. I’m obviously taking in less calories, but I do think there is some truth to what we put in our mouths matters because of how our bodies process certain foods.
Now this is just my opinion. You do you.
Yet at same time: Drink more water, eat more veggies, eat less sugar, and do some sort of stress-relieving exercise. Follow a plan every day and study how to make your health better. That’s all I’ve got after a year. Can I sustain this until September of next year? We’ll see, but at this point, I don’t know if I have a choice. Plus my thought a lot of the time is, “I’ve already had all those foods that led to my obesity, I don’t need them anymore. I know what they taste like. I’m good.”
Oh, and one more thing. I do go to WW meetings every week with my friend, Anna Hague. I do consult my family a lot with my weight loss issues. I also have a group of author friends, I vent to. Don’t do weight loss alone. Share your struggles with others who are willing to support your choices. This is super important, as well.
