If you are also looking for under-recognized novelists, you might check out a writing friend of mine, also a Goodreads author: Stephanie Siciarz. She has created a delightful island (likely Caribbean!) and peopled it with unforgettable characters. The three published books in this ongoing series are gently humorous but serious at the same time, and her writing is like music.
