I'm so glad you got a chance to finish Legacies and enjoyed it. I'm working on the sequel but still have a long way to go before even the writing is finished, so it will be quite awhile before I'm ready to think about posting or publishing -- sometime in 2017, but when exactly, I'm not sure yet. I'm currently working on another P&P project that is up on FF.net for beta for a limited time, though. Thanks for your interest in my work!(less)

That Time I Got to Handle Real Regency Garments

Now that I've finished the Tremendous Machines series, I wanted to share some highlights from my last trip to England, and I'm starting with the most exciting one. I was fortunate enough to learn about the V&A East Storehouse's "Order an Object" in time to schedule an appointment before my trip. The Storehouse is located in the former Olympic park in London, and full of objects that can't fit int

This book was a good idea but it was poorly executed. Two big issues. The first is that it's way too small for what they're trying to do, and so the maps are so small as to be difficult to read, and there are other tables in there that are eye charts ...more

Generally good but I wish there had been more options accessible by rail in particular and even just public transit in general. These are pub walks after all.

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”
