Like every morning, I skimmed through immigration articles. These days, it is especially important because presidential candidates are changing their mind about immigration on a daily basis. For someone like me who deeply cares about immigration and the future of our country, I must keep up with the pace.

And as there are not enough problems with the immigration system, today I learned that the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general warns that a failure to sufficiently modernize the nation's Electronic Immigration System may be a security risk. Potentially hundreds of Green Cards have been sent to incorrect addresses, and “unauthorized individuals ... might sell or use them fraudulently for profit.”

Despite years of development, customers can file applications online for only TWO of about 90 types of immigration benefits and services. Thank God for small mercies, because historically, USCIS has employed a vast, paper-based system to process such applications, but now they have two less applications' types to worry about.

Here’s a suggestion to the USCIS and Homeland Security—ask congress to reform high-skilled immigration, then file a petition for foreign workers from the IT field, give them H-1B visa, and let them fix your systems!
