An article, Record-Breaking Women in Spaceflight History, published today at Space.com by writer Calla Cofield made me so proud. Many times we hear about record-breaking women among other women, but Calla points out that when it comes to the space program, women are setting milestones among their male colleagues.

This year’s International women’s day campaign theme was a pledge for parity. International Women's Day Community mentioned that “The World Economic Forum predicted in 2014 that it would take until 2095 to achieve global gender parity. Then one year later in 2015, they estimated that a slowdown in the already glacial pace of progress meant the gender gap wouldn't close entirely until 2133.”

Yet, the space program suggests 2133 is already here. Calla noted that in 2013, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's newest astronaut class included four men and four women. “The 50/50 split marks the highest percentage of women in an astronaut class in NASA history.”

I say- no wonder NASA is the most creative and innovative space agency in the world!
