Facing your fears!

The traveling around australia has been incredible and we have been able to see some amazing sights and one of them being the Great Barrie Reef… it was incredible.  However I do feel that we could have seen more.  I have a massive fear of the ocean and when we booked the trip I wasn't thinking about it but when the time can, I could feel the fear within me.  But it was not going to stop me.  I had taken my diving certificate when I was a swimming instructor but that was only in a pool so I decided I was just going to snorkel… and so off we went!

Holly jumped in two feet and there I was sitting on the edge and I could feel my heart racing but I didn't want my fear to take hold so I just pushed myself off and in I went! OMG OMG OMG… the panic set in when I started to put my head under the water… I couldn't stand it.  For the first few minutes, well 10 actually I had to control my breathing etc etc.

I'm actually a great swimmer and have always had a passion for swimming but realized that this was due to a past life that I had when I died in the ocean, so I forced myself to swim.  But being in the ocean surrounded by water and nothing else for as far as the eye could see was hard for me to deal with.  I felt better that everyone was around me and that Holly was not far away but I was so worried… but finally, I stopped and centered myself and calmed down.  And I am so glad I did.

I put my head under and started to breathe and that was it… I started to see the world that was living under the water. The incredible vast array of coral and living creatures and fish. It was amazing.  The colors were incredible, just knowing that there is another life under the ocean is one thing but being able to experience it was something else.  There was no stopping me from that point on, I calmed down and swam, watching how our instructor went down to touch a clam and it closed up right in front of us.  I saw a shark on the bottom of the ocean… it was a whole world and 'Nemo' captured a lot of it in the movie!

It made me realize that we all have fears, and sometimes we have to over come those fears to experience a great things in life.  Fear is something that only we can overcome, but by remaining calm and putting our selves in a safe environment to overcome them, is important.  When we do this we can face it.  There is nothing to lose, and actually everything to gain. So put your fear aside next time you want to experience something amazing, I did… and I am so glad I did as I would never have experienced such a magical moment like this.

However I know what you are all thinking… Peas… urmmmm Nope, I think I can live with not eating them and I don't think they will add to any experience that I am going to have, so for now I will live with that one, and know I can overcome all the others that I have… :)

Have a wonderful day everyone and remember face your fears with a smile!

Lots of love

bookgoddess88 I had a similar experience in Jamaica snorkeling. I was the only "chicken" on the boat. When I finally jumped in with the rest of the crowd, I started taking pictures with an underwater camera and relaxed. Thankfully, I did NOT see a shark. That would've done me in. LOL However, I've developed a severe fear of flying in a plane. I'll do it, but I come close to having a panic attack each time I do. Could it be that in a past life something happened to me in a plane as well?
