Friday is my favorite day of the week because it represents completion and conclusion of my weekly efforts. I thought it would be terrific to celebrate Fridays from now until my May 17th book release with quotes from the book. It would give you a chance to know me better and understand what The Opposite of Comfortable is all about.

The quote above is from Chapter 2, during which I find out that my husband was accepted into a two-year fellowship in New York City. I knew he had applied but I thought the likelihood that he would be accepted to the fellowship was slim due to the program’s competitive nature.

I had two options. First, I could have joined him in NYC and try to find a job for the two years or maybe take some time off. Second, I could stay in Israel, follow my career path, and become a single mother to my 18-month son for two years.

In life’s department store, everything has a price. I thought that the highest price I was about to pay was in terms of my career, which in many ways defined my identity. I was a wife and a mother, and most people would consider this sufficient, but I’d already tasted the forbidden fruit. I had a career, and I was good at it.
