Rarely will you hear me complain about a new service that benefits women. We are awesome, and I applaud every business wishes to celebrate femininity. However, I stumbled upon an ABC News article, New Car Service 'Chariot for Women' For Women Only, and I was unable to appreciate the
value proposition for women.

The Uber-like service was launched by a former Uber driver and his wife and designed to provide rides only for female passengers by female drivers. The reason? The founders claim to have heard disturbing stories about “unsafe travel and Uber drivers hitting on women and just a lot of unsafe issues.”

Besides the obvious discrimination against the employment of men, I don’t really follow the logic. Is the time spent in a cab a virtual reality? What the founders think is happening in the world outside the cab? Everywhere else women deal with chauvinism, sexist remarks, sexual harassment, and dogmatism but in the cab they suddenly become defenseless?

The idea that women need a special protection in the cab or that they need to be in a female-only environment to feel secure is irking. Have you looked behind the scene of a beauty pageant or an executive meeting with a female majority?

If anything, we should focus on parity, rise above stereotypes and bias, establish gender-balanced leadership, respect and value differences between genders, and develop more inclusive culture.

I will keep on riding any type of transportation that will bring me to wherever I need to go regardless who is driving it, I will voice my opinion about how to grill a steak, and when no one is watching I will used the men’s bathrooms where there is never a line.
