My post

Beautiful People,

“It is through accomplishment that man makes his contribution and contribution is life's greatest reward”—John Portman, an American neofuturistic architect and real estate developer.

In two days, I’ll be walking into Page 1 Books, meet and greet all the beautiful people who came to support me, take a seat in front of the crowd, open up my book and the words I had written almost two years ago will pour out and flood the room. They will no longer be mine; they will become public possession, open to discussion, interpretation, and criticism.

My book is the greatest professional contribution I have made in my life so far. In interviews, I'm being asked what inspired me to write The Opposite of Comfortable?

My answer is always the same: I had never planned writing a book, one day I opened my computer to write a note for my son’s teacher, and five hours later, I’d scripted the first 10 pages of my book. As I continued writing, I realized that the accomplishment was not only for my personal gain but for the common good.

The Opposite of Comfortable is for all the people who never dared to dream because they felt it wasn’t practical. For all the people who were afraid to take a risk because they felt it wasn’t safe, and for all the people who never expected much because they though it wasn't possible.

It is for all the unbelievably strong women in the world who pass down to their daughters the strength and resilience of the female spirit. The courageous men who teach their sons the importance of gender equality, and make them value and respect the differences between human beings.

My book is about appreciation, dreams, risks, expectations, compromises and acceptance. It would leave you thinking about what you have accomplished and what other contributions you could make.

In two days my book is yours. I hope you’ll enjoy it, talk about it, and always follow your OWN dreams, according to YOUR reality, values and beliefs.

XO,
Sharon
