My post

Beautiful People,

MY Monday hero is Giada De Laurentiis a chef, writer of 8 cookbooks and the Recipe for Adventure series, and the host of the Food Network television program Giada at Home. She is a winner of the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host, and in 2012, she was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame.

Giada was born in Rome, Italy in 1970. Seven years later, after her parents' divorce, she moved to the United States with her mother and siblings. The family settled in Los Angeles, and Giada attended first grade without knowing a word in English.

In 1996, De Laurentiis graduated from UCLA with a degree in social anthropology. But she decided to follow her love for the kitchen and moved to Paris where she studied at Le Cordon Bleu, the famed cooking school. After graduating, she returned to Los Angeles and worked for two esteemed restaurants: the Ritz Carlton Fine Dining Room and Wolfgang Puck's Spago.

Then she started her own catering company called GDL Foods, worked as a food stylist, and wrote for the Food&Wine magazine. In 2003, she hosted Everyday Italian, a half-hour cooking show on the food network, and later appeared in numerous of the network shows and specials.

In July 2014, De Laurentiis opened her first restaurant, called GIADA, inside The Cromwell in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In 2003, she married Todd Thompson, a fashion designer who she dated since the age of 19. In 2008, she gave birth to her only daughter, Jade, and stated that she does not plan on having more children and focused on her career. The couple separated in 2014.

In a very competitive culinary scene, Giada De Laurentiis proves that following your heart without losing your soul is a delightful recipe for success.

She is warm, friendly, practical and speaks her mind, and
her Pan-Seared Branzino with Tomato and Capers is my family’s favorite.

Giada De Laurentiis, you are such an inspiration to me!

XO,
Sharon
