Celebrating Fridays until my May 17th book release with quotes from my book, and today’s quote is from Chapter 10, Outsmarting Feminism.
I couldn’t wait to get to this quote! Chapter 10 is one of my favorite chapters in the book because I’m having a conversation with my dear friend Christine about what it means to lead a full life for a woman in the 21st century.
During my journey, I discovered that many women know exactly what is needed to climb the ladder, but they choose not to climb it at all, or climb it on their own terms, or in their own time. Every woman faces different challenges, has a unique background and abilities to access education, and opportunities to open otherwise closed doors.
Therefore, it is important women’s choices be respected. Women who choose to climb the ladder at a different stage in their lives should be supported by the women who are already there. They should not be judged for their timing, their female characteristics, or for their choices
I understood that feminism is anything but one-size-fits-all, and women have infinite routes of self-expression.
But those conclusions would be reached in hindsight. During my uncomfortable, painful, uneasy journey I tried to create meaning to my life, and this attempt led me to who I am today.
12 days to launch, and I’m so excited.
