Two years ago, when I started writing my high-skilled immigration story from Israel to the United States, I didn’t need a relief, and writing my memoir wasn’t a therapeutic experience. If anything, I thought that when it comes to immigration, America is the one who needs treatment :-)

Yet, my journey had forced me to question every certitude and examine: What does it mean to lead a full life for a woman in the 21st century?

I found that shifting circumstances in life require not only resilience, but a frame of mind that allows one to set aside individual desires to support the family as a whole—not a very popular concept these days. In this aspect, my book provides an alternative to the polarizing discussions on careerism and mothering.

My life-altering experience involved immigration, but it could have easily been interchangeable with any other unexpected circumstance such as losing a loved one, losing a job, having a baby in a later phase in life, or having to care for a sick family member.

I believe that no matter what prompts the need to shake a life, it is always possible to reposition or rejuvenate yourself.

I wrote my book because I wanted you to know that a woman’s essence is not necessarily related to her career, her family, her education, her connections, or her hobbies.

A woman’s true spirit is in her ability to make the choices that are right for her, given the reality she faces, and according to her personal preferences.

I hope it will inspire you to never be too comfortable, accept uneasy, and let yourself be hurt— these situations would probably be your best growth opportunities in life.
