Steeeeeaaaaaam *ksssssss*


So. Sex. Kinks. Tropes. YES. The good, the bad and the should-be-wrong-but-it-really-doesn't-feel-like-it.

The first sex scene I ever read was from a Mills & Boon Modern Romance novel. I was curled up in the arm chair holding the book as close to my chest as possible without looking suspicious, my eyes flicking from the pages of the book to where my mum sat on the corner of the other sofa reading her newspaper.

It was a day of discovery.

I've moved on since my Mills & Boon days (Harlequin, in the US, I believe).

But it's safe to say things didn't really get crazy until I started Uni and through a love of anime, found FanFiction. It didn't really get into anything hardcore until the last few years I was in fandom, during my Supernatural and Teen Wolf days (which I still read on occasion). This is where KINK set in when it came to sex scenes. Kinks every colour of the rainbow...like skittles.


What surprised me was that, when well written, I was willing to read, and definitely enjoyed, almost anything (there was even a golden shower one...um, took it with a pinch of salt and although it didn't quite work out for me, it was still well written?). That Mpreg that made you cringe and back away? I read it. Hell yes I'd hit that again. Two hot brothers *cough*Winchesters*cough* going overboard in their co-dependent relationship? Yup. I read it. Hit it more than twice.

-Heat (as in… going into heat)
-Piercings
-Sex Pollen
-Sounding
-Fisting
-Anal Play
-DP
-Voyeurism
-Shaving/Depilation
-Tentacle-sex

The list goes on. And as long as the characters and the kink itself, are well written, then I'm guaranteed to enjoy it. I like being pushed out of my comfort zone and giving new things a try. You don't learn otherwise, right?

It's odd, that now instead of kinks, as I've moved back out of fanfic, I find I've been focusing more on tropes. Tropes that lead to epic conflict and sex. Current ones driving me crazy:

-Military Men
-Werewolves
-Friends to lovers
-Gay for you

And I love my slow-burns, makes the sex all the more worth it when it finally happens, the blow up is a beautiful thing.

It's had a big influence in my writing. I don't think I've written anything too crazy. I learned to be adventurous during the fanfiction days. I tried my hand at incest, knotting, sex pollen, depilation, blood play, genderbender and then finally touched on tentacle sex with the short story I wrote for the Love Has No Boundaries event.

I'm going to make myself another nice tea and settle down with something nice and hot and then do some more work on the novel. I'm looking to do a post on the actual writing of sex scenes sometime soon – it's one of the hardest things to write for me.
