Echoes of the Past - Chapter Six
"Put me down, Fola!" Teni gasped as Fola carried her in his arms and strode towards the sea. They were at Marijas, the beautiful private beach on the Lekki peninsula he had told her about. "Fola, don't!" She pleaded but he just smiled and kept on walking. "I just fixed my hair; salt water can't be good for it!" She grasped at his tank top. "Fola, please!" Fola got right to the edge of the water and looked down at her horrified laughing face. "Not to worry. I'll pay for a new hair do." "I haven't got time to go to the salon again!" Her eyes widened as she saw a wave comimg towards them and he made as if he wanted to lower her into it. "Fola, please don't!" He suspended her half way down as the waves crashed all around them but thankfully did not carry out his threat.
"Coming to the beach is for getting wet." He laughed, lowering her on the sand again as the wave receded. He placed an arm around her and drew her close.
"You’re such a caveman!" She giggled nestling against his side. "You got me frightened there." "Caveman? I’ve just acted like a perfect gentleman!" He made as if he wanted to lift her up again "Maybe I should just drop you in the water after all." "No way!" She laughed moving away from him. He tried to catch her and she started to run on the sand. He chased after her and she had barely run for two minutes before he caught up with her, snagged her ankle and she went tumbling towards the sand. He broke her fall with his body just before she hit the ground. "Fola, I swear I'm going to be full of bruises by the end of today!" She giggled as she tried to sit up. To be continued.....
