The love hate relationship
Damn writing can be a challenge. I have so many ideas and yet getting them down on the page is sometimes so difficult. And when I'm in a story, it's like I can't have rest until I've finished it, even if no one reads it lol. Regan's Reach was/is like that. I had the whole story in my head with a good idea of how I wanted it to progress and where I would be happy to leave it. But until I reached that happy place it wouldn't let go of me to do other things.
That becomes even more of a challenge if your story takes the reader places they might not want to go. Regan's Reach spans a period of sixteen years in Regan's life. Characters die, life throws you curve balls. Relationships are tested and strained. I wanted to take her through all of that and to reach a point in the last book, Retribution, that was always hinted from the beginning. I never wanted to write story after story about the young Regan and in fact I couldn't have. That wasn't the one in my head. My story both excited me and trapped me.
Now I'm trying something different. It's a story about a boy with a condition. This boy doesn't feel fear and as a consequence acts without second guessing. It means he does what he believes is right no matter the cost, and oh what cost that turns out to be. I'm 40k in now and enjoying the change.
I may add stories in the RR universe at some point but for now, SEVERIN fills my thoughts.
Happy reading and writing if that is your thing. For me, now, it's back to the laptop :-)
