My post
Beautiful People,
In case you haven’t had a chance to do your good deed for the day, please consider signing this important petition that is asking Congress to pass a commonsense sexual assault survivors’ bill of rights.
“In some states, survivors have to pay for their own rape kits, are not informed when their untested rape kits will be destroyed, and don’t have access to their own police reports.
For all of these reasons, Amanda Nguyen, a survivor herself, started a petition asking Congress to pass a commonsense sexual assault survivors’ bill of rights.
Thankfully, with the support of Amanda’s signers, the Senate has already unanimously passed the bill, which urges states to adopt their own laws providing sexual assault survivors the right to prompt rape kit testing and the right to have their kit preserved free of charge.
But now Amanda Nguyen need your help to get it passed in the U.S. House of Representatives – the more signatures Amanda is able to show House members, the more likely it is that they will pass the bill.
Join me in signing Amanda’s petition asking Congress to pass the first ever Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights – because survivors should be able to count on the criminal justice system, not have to fight it.”
XO,
Sharon
