A Beautiful Day
On a beautiful warm yet cloudy day I set off with friends and our dogs to paddle the rivers of Kauai.
Kauai Hawaii known for it's beautiful water falls and incredible rivers is the perfect setting for a paddleboard adventure.
Just as we arrive and place our boards in the water to paddle upstream, tiny rain drops start to fall from the gloom of the sky.
This wasn't going to stop us from finding the waterfall off in the near distance. As we begin paddling upstream the rain begins to come down harder and harder.
Not that a little rain hurts anyone, it does cause the river to flow more and more rapidly not in our favor. With the dogs holding on tightly we continue on our way up the winding river. Having to paddle twice as hard as the river begins to ripple, my shoulder begin to burn. Yet this does not stop me, yet challenges me to paddle harder allowing the intense raindrops to massage them actually soothing them. As I look around me through the dense rain, I notice the massiveness of the trees that surround me and the lush green landscape imbedded with tropical wild flowers of all colors. I feel the intense energy flowing through me--filling me with natures purest intensions. As the river begins to narrow the force of the water gets more intense. We almost question if we can even make it but we were all determined and unwilling to turn back. Continuing on we come to a point that we must leave our boards on the rivers edge and continue on foot. Rain still pounding down on us we make our way along the rivers bank at some points having to even push our way through the mad rivers current. Nearing the waterfall we first hear its rage as it drops over the rocks to the pool below. So excite to see its beauty I rush ahead up a steep hill and come over the top to a sight I will never forget. How nature can create such beauty is beyond me but I just love the way it makes me feel. Chills running throughout my body I feel my breath taken away for a brief moment of clarity. This was a true paradise that was being shared with us, with me. Although I was drenched through my core I felt my body warm with and inner peace and tranquility. I sit on the edge of a rock to take it all in ... the trip up the river on the paddleboards, the hike, the waterfall and how lucky I am to have such a wonderful experience.
