The Perfect Journey...

So, this is my first blog post!

It has taken me a while to get around to this, but as I sit here feeling slightly sorry for myself due to illness, I decided that now is the time to start my blog.

I hope that, through this blog, I will be able to connect with other writers and readers. I am fairly new to the writing world, and my debut novel Perfect Stranger released in May this year. Putting my story out into the world was a scary process, and in some regards it still is, but I have learnt very quickly that you need to develop a tough skin.
It's amazing how a comment, no matter how critical or complimentary, can affect what you think about yourself. I have questioned many things in the last few months, but I am slowly starting to realise that remaining true to yourself is what matters the most.

I opted to go down the self-publishing route. I have read many success stories of indie publishers, and I guess I went into it a bit naively. Once I uploaded my ebook, I was convinced that I would have sold many copies over night. When I woke up and saw that I had sold three, I was devastated. This devastation clouded me for the next couple of days, along with very slow ebook sales. I started to doubt my story. But then, I released the paperback version, which heightened my mood considerably. The paperback version sold more copies in the first hour than the complete total of my ebook sales!! My paperback sales remain better than my ebook sales to date. Granted, I haven't sold thousands, but I can now appreciate that it takes time. It takes time to build up a base. It takes time to gain recognition. It takes time to meet others that enjoy the genre you write in.

I am a lover of all things romance. Give me an alpha male any day of the week and I will devour the book within days (sometimes hours if I have the day off of work!).
My debut novel, Perfect Stranger, is a romantic suspense. It has been well received so far from the reviews on Amazon. I am sure that there are some who won't like what I have written, but, you know what? That's okay. We can't please everyone.
I have been lucky enough to have been invited onto BBC Gloucestershire radio for an interview, and I have been lucky enough to have been featured on a blog post as a Friday author feature (I will try and post the link separately later).

If you feel like my blog might interest you, then please, follow me on here and connect with me on social media. I am on twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I also have my own website www.theperfectseries.com which features all you need to know about the Perfect Series.

Well, I guess this brings my first post to an end. I hope that I haven't bored you to tears!
As for me, I shall now be over on twitter for a while before I succumb to reading in bed! (There are some perks to being ill!)

Much love,
Lindsey!
