I love history and "living" it through historical fiction. So often we learn about history in pockets, and we don't realize what other issues and events were going on at the same time. I felt that way about the Depression era. I thought it was all Dust-bowl and soup lines. But in the big cities, there was SO MUCH MORE going on! It was brilliant, exciting, and innovating. In spite of the Depression. What a word for us today! There was incredible art, architecture, women rising to prominent positions in the workforce, and of course a lot of dancing, music and cocktails. It was beautiful. And perhaps even more so because of the adversity of the day. Here is a video I made of Lane Sander's own neighborhood! Get a glimpse at her street, the townhouse that inspired Aunt Evelyn's, a special insight into the infamous Daley Joseph, and a lot more! Enjoy! More videos coming: Central Park, Blackwell's Island...
