Stepping out

Stepping out
Rosemary Fonseca

Stepping out into the snowy world
branches bend within the heavy laden fall
Wrapping one's coat
against one's shivering form
looks around
at the beauty of the scene
A puff of breath
taken
hangs in the air
Feet crunching
on the ground laid bare
stockinged toes cold within its touch
Hushed distant sounds
of vehicles with people
who mingle to begin their day
along icy roads
that covered by the snow
ice glistens softly within the scene
A weak ray of sunlight bounces off
droplets of water
streaking down the window pane
heralding mirages of colors
that dances within the warmth of one's home
Icicles silently dripping
upon the covered ground
So take the time to survey
the wonderous site unknown
As the path leads them along the way
deep in thought against the cold
Hands warmed within the cloak
that held you once within their warmth
take the time to survey
the wintery, snow-covered scene
To return once more
to the home
beside the fire within the hearthRosemary Fonseca (Pearse)
