Kilmainham Goal

Kilmainham Goal©
29/11/2021

Haunted eyes of windows that look out
silently upon the world
Distant sounds of cars whooshing past
Walking intently through the door
into the cool, darkened hall
Stepping onto concrete floor
breath-taking views of stone and steel
crisscross the glass above
Eyes look upwards to the stairs
that reach the heavens above
Light filters down to those below
Eyes in wonder, voices lift
upon the majestic view
Gaining answer to quell their thirst
Paint peeling as walls laid bare
Graffiti written of voices present
Long forgotten voices
echoes upon the weathered stone
the cold slowly creeps in
Eyes seeking darkened doors
housing the menfolk of long, long ago
Names spill out upon the wintered air
Pearse, Plunket Eamon, are just a few
and on it goes, History laid bare upon the stone
Steel padlocked doors,
barred shadows of those souls
Continuing through the building at a pace
Narrow pathways where well-known feet have trod
Through lowered doorways and well-worn stairs
A carved alter built within the stone
Bending with care, Stepping out
into the loose stone courtyard
Footsteps crunch softly
as one moves silently upon the ground
Icy fingers glides down one’s back
Shivering softly within the misty air
Hushed voices of the poignant beauty
of the goal that is now repaired
Enquiring hands touching stone
as it weeps as if for the slain
Heavy clouds hang above the walls
The flag flutters softly within the breeze
Commemorating those that were slain
their blood spilled upon the stones
Two crosses stand starkly within the yard
These bear the heroes that were lain to rest
upon the land that they know best
Stepping through yonder gate
returns one to the norm
Respecting those that were slain
under the flag that flies upon the day
A fleeting smile, a nod of head, hushed voices raised
as one continues on their way.

Footprints

Footprints
04/03/2018

Footprints within the snow
leading out is the only way in
Placing steps in those formed before
leads you home ..... once more
The white beckons to begin your trek
“There is no turning back”
Looking back from whence you came
Disturbed snow
shows your gain
Your breath hangs delightfully upon the air
Icy fingers trace
shivers that runs down your back
knowing that
there is no going back
Until one has reached
the path upon the hidden track
Placing one foot within the next
Your heart pumps upon the track
The white blanket is all that you see
No extra footprints to make it back
Reaching the end of one's heavy trek
you begin the task that takes you back
Turning around to return for home
an icy touch shivers once more
A fire is welcome upon
your safe return
Stepping in footprints in the snow
No disturbance of the snow that's pure
that surrounds the footprints in the snow

Stepping out

Stepping out
Rosemary Fonseca

Stepping out into the snowy world
branches bend within the heavy laden fall
Wrapping one's coat
against one's shivering form
looks around
at the beauty of the scene
A puff of breath
taken
hangs in the air
Feet crunching
on the ground laid bare
stockinged toes cold within its touch
Hushed distant sounds
of vehicles with people
who mingle to begin their day
along icy roads
that covered by the snow
ice glistens softly within the scene
A weak ray of sunlight bounces off
droplets of water
streaking down the window pane
heralding mirages of colors
that dances within the warmth of one's home
Icicles silently dripping
upon the covered ground
So take the time to survey
the wonderous site unknown
As the path leads them along the way
deep in thought against the cold
Hands warmed within the cloak
that held you once within their warmth
take the time to survey
the wintery, snow-covered scene
To return once more
to the home
beside the fire within the hearthRosemary Fonseca (Pearse)

A Butterflies Touch

A Butterflies Touch
28/01/2018

A gentle breeze swirls around the house
lifting leaves upon the ground
A delicate butterfly lands upon
a dusty windowsill
Its fluorescent wings lightly
touches the window pane
Rays of sunlight
shimmers lightly upon its glistening wings
colors dance within your view
A window slides soundlessly
permitting its entry
within the space
Fluttering gently upon one's hand
it's delicate wings kissing softly
against one's open palm
A smile radiates upon the view
one's eyes glisten with a tear
A quivering smile upon ones lips
Takes flight
upon bated breath
brushing lightly against ones face
softly kissing trembling lips
A gentle touch as a soul takes flight
A loved one passing
from this zone to the next
A butterflies gentle touch
upon one's soul
offers comfort to those left behind

Wicklow Views

Wicklow Views
30/12/2016

Taking in the Wicklow Views
As one takes the sight within
More breathtaking than the next
Rolling hills that bring
the valleys to the brink
In bathing light of the hazy sun
Brings the shimmering sight upon one's view
Distant harbours bringing distant memories of younger years
The hills filled with laughter and the joy
That these memories of snow did bring
listening to the words of yesteryear
from excited chatter of strangers
upon the grassy verge
Of sights that this so brings
Leaning over crumbling walls
bringing us closer to winter falls
As the mountains reach up to touch the azure
More breathtaking views are here to see
Take the walk along secluded paths
that bring to you
Hidden streams and bubbling brooks
Cars park, people alight
Breath catching within the views
Camera Lenses catching light
glinting softly within the rays
Pictures painted within your view
as the raising sun paints for you
Clouds dissipates within the heat
A gentle breeze against your feet
The rolling hills catching your eyes
as contrasting greens touch the ground
where one stands
Of Mountains named The Sugarloaf
stands within the distant view
Hats peaked upon one's head
shading eyes from the rays
People stand, pressed against crooked gates
Rickety fences collapsed upon the land
distant figures of dog and man
pressed hazily against the views
Taking in the Wicklow Views

The Meaning of Xmas

The Meaning of Xmas

Here is the true meaning of Xmas
That most do not know
It is NOT about the money
or the gifts
that one surely brings

Think only on the love
that Xmas should really bring
The lights that sparkle on the tree
is a smile that reflects
within thine eyes

An angel in the heavens above
and atop the sapling in the home
looks down upon you justly so
So sit with the one
that you shall surely love

Wrap them in the blanket
that one has so rightly earned
filled with the warmth
that a smile
and hug will do

Envelope those as you take
the time to sit
and
Welcome all the same

Celebrate Xmas with your family
and not upon the gifts
that arrive within their hold
As they take a seat
upon your hearth

As thoughts of love and comfort
Shows the true meaning of Xmas
That is truly meant to be
So love all who come your way
on this
Special .... Xmas Day

Be Inspired

Be Inspired
Creative Poetry/Writing

Let us think upon these words of Creative Writing and Be inspired. This would include poetry, your thoughts, quotes, your life and experiences etc. A question of How would this inspire you? Or What inspires one to write? Could be a refrain from most people. We will try and clear the way for all of you to be creative.

Do you just look at something and allow your mind to skim over it, or do you look even deeper. This is what creative writing/poetry is. BE INSPIRED. Inspire others with your actions and your words.

Many people do, but if you slow down, take time to look at what you are looking at, and then react. As adults we have lost the innocence that we had as children . A child would look at an item and a scene etc would jump out at then. They have no ego. Their ego has not evolved as yet. There is innocence in everything that they do.

So, in our rushed lives we do not “Stop” and “Look” at a picture, or an event, or what is happening around you in the environment. Our egos have taken over, and this is what clouds our judgement. But we would like to say this to you - spend time within yourself, and STOP and LOOK. Anyone can write creatively, or be creative. So putting you into that space will bring a contentment, and words will flow

So We give this to you. We rush around too much, and the environment around you is ignored, or even harmed. When one sees a beautiful place, object etc. Instead of rushing past, take but 5 min to let it soak in. Relax, breath it in. Look with your eyes , and your heart.

Here is an example:- We know that one can either love or hate rain. So here is a thought for you. Next time – you are caught in a shower of rain. “Listen to the sound” “Look at the Beauty that it brings” also note it can also bring devastation. Take note of the thirst of knowledge it might bring. A water droplet is different in many senses, just like a snow particle, not all would be the same shape , but let your mind drift and welcome the rain on your skin, feel it , and watch it feed the soil where you stand. You do not have to literally stand in the rain but take the time to slow down
and see what is happening around you . We spend so much time rushing to and fro, but not stopping to see the beauty around us. “raindrops dripping onto autumn leaves” , puddles that are formed … for children to play in , to investigate, etc . Even the rain running down a window pane, and the light that reflects through it, to name but a few. Even these words can evoke creativity.

To be creative think on words that would describe what you see in front of you. We could place a glass of water in front of someone and they would just see …. the glass of water. But if you looked deeper you would see so much more. There is beauty in a plainess of an item. The shape of the glass. Is it crystal or just a normal glass? How does the water relect? Or does the glass reflect instead.? What colour is it? Does it reflect in the room – Light verses Dark or visa versa? Is it a statement piece or part of a group of items? The condensation against the glass! And so forth. This is what it means to be creative . One must look at different aspects of the scene.

Sounds very simplified, but very true. People take the environment for granted , and so this is what we say to you . “Stop” “Listen” “Look” and “Breath. This will bring the environment closer to you and your creativity will come to the fore. So be Inspired in all you do , and Inspire others

A sunkissed lake

A Sunkissed Lake©
13/10/2016

Looking out from frosted panes
One awakens to the gentled breeze
that sends ripples upon the lake
widening, enlarging within your gaze
mesmorising for those who care to look
A door slides open with a sound
a dampened touch against ones silken skin
a hare stops, sits and stares
and takes flight amongst the sanctuary of the trees
Trees rustle at the touch
of breath upon the laden air
A couple sit in the armchair on the deck
a steaming brew within ones touch
the steam rises within their sight
as they gaze together at the view
A distant stare as memories come to bare
of children all grown with truth to be told
Autumn leaves of reds and golds
begin their fall upon the hardened winter soil
Standing up, walking down to the waters edge
an upturned canoe nestles within the nook
water laps at the edge
Walking hand in hand
gentle laughter can be heard
as the autumn leaves are scrunched underfoot
Looking out … through the trees
a hazy view of islands shimmers into view
seagulls land, screaching as they take flight upon the air
A powerful stare has comes to bare
as one breaths the air on high
A bird begins its song for the day
And then the peaceful silence
is brought to bay
The sun began its dance
as it lays its head behind the lake
sending streaks across the skies aloft
leaving a smile upon their lips
We welcome this wonderous sight
The vision
of the sunkissed lake
