Bride of Christ: Explained
In your reading of God’s Word, have you ever asked yourself about the bride of Christ? The church is considered to part of the family of God made up of Christians. God the Father considers all the people of the world to be his children. Many consider the church as the bride of Christ, and this belief is held to be the truth based on the strong faith of people.
If you put it as a typical family relationship of marriage between a husband and wife, they are represented by Jesus Christ and the church. This bond is the divine marriage, a relationship for eternity. It has been constituted that the church is the true bride of Christ to strengthen the faith of its followers and believers.
Human marriage is typically a bond between a man and a woman. The reason for this is because they love each other and they want to strengthen their bond. Their role is to take care of and support each other in their respective endeavors. This is the same with Christ and his bride, the church. They need to be united so that the faith of the Christian people will remain strong.
The union between husband and wife is sacred, and so is the bond between Jesus Christ and the church. Husbands love their wives the same way Jesus Christ loves the church and its people. Jesus gave himself to the people of the world, and this is the highest form of sacrifice in the spiritual relationship. As children of Jesus, we and the church should submit ourselves to strengthen our faith and to follow its teachings.
Although this topic is very sensitive and others find it difficult to understand—most especially the non-Christians—the important thing that we should put in our minds is that we should be strong in our faith and beliefs. The term bride of Christ is merely an endearment to distinguish that the church is Jesus Christ’s partner in spreading God’s Word. The church is a representation of Christ, and this bond is sacred to the Christian religion.
