10%

Since late last year, I've been trying to read 10% of a book a day since just saying "I need to read more" never seemed to accomplish anything. I know 3 books a month isn't much for some people, but it's pretty good for me. I've kept it up for a few months now (usually alternating fiction and non-fiction) and I've found if it's a really long book, I better make sure it's pretty interesting.

Anyway, thought I'd finally make use of Goodreads to catalog the books as I read them and feel like I've accomplished something.

Azriel Not to be like a George R R Martin fan, but how about writing 10% of a book a month?

My current standard is I have to make some forward progress on one of my books every day. 10% a month sounds doable, though. I only need to average about 333 words a day since I usually write about 100k for a novel.

Scott S. Have you tried audiobooks? The sound and narration quality have gone through the roof in the past 5-6 years. I can kill a couple books a month just listening while doing house work/feeding the dogs.

Frank Fleming I used to have an Audible subscription and love audiobooks, but now that I don't have a commute and I find it tough to find time to listen as a lot of work I do takes too much mental process to listen to audiobooks/podcasts at the same time.
