Giveaway
My mother's family came to America from Russia in the early 1900s to find a better life. My grandparents met in Wisconsin and were married in 1915, raising their five children in Racine. (I was also born in Racine). Their story is not that different from other families who came for a better life. So, what started out as a tribute to my mother's family evolved into a tribute to those who came during that era. "My Name is Rebecca: A Novelette" takes the reader on the journey in steerage to the process of going through Ellis Island. In the Lower East Side of New York, the voices of immigrants come to life. And then the midwest is displayed as the family moves there. This is a story of family, culture, and love passed down to future generations. I have included some true stories that I heard while growing up and also experienced myself.
Win one of 30 signed paperback copies of the book in the giveaway that is going on now. With it will be included a bookmark that complements the cover. And, by the way, the little girl on the cover is my mother when she was four years old in 1931.
