I'm back!

Apologies, have been away for several years while researching and writing my latest, Spying on the South, which comes out in a few weeks. Like most of my other books it's a mix of history, journalism, and travel adventure. In this case parallel journeys. Frederick Law Olmsted's in the 1850s, across the South, as an undercover correspondent for the New York Times (which led him to Central Park and landscape architecture). And my own journey on his path, from the Potomac to the Rio Grande, at another time of national division. With plenty of travel antics thrown in!

Hope you enjoy! Tony

Joanne Clarke Gunter You are one of my favorite writers. I can hardly wait to read your new book Spying on the South. It has been too long since I've had new book of yours to read!

Tony Horwitz Thanks for the kind words and just got a nice plug from BBC Culture, which named Spying on South as one of ten books to read in May. All reviews thus far positive, fingers crossed that I'm not being set up for a pan!

CJ I was just looking through my lists of favorite non-fiction books a few weeks ago and when I saw Confederates in the Attic, I literally said out loud, "He should do a follow-up to that, 25 years later, to see how things have changed." And then lo and behold I find out that you really did, and it's coming out soon. Can't wait! It's the book I'm most looking forward to for the summer.

Johnny Nice to see you on here Mr. Horwitz!
I can't imagine my trip though New Zealand and Australia without having "Blue Latitudes" by my side. It really transformed my trip into an adventure.

Rachel Welcome back Mr. Horwitz! Along with all your fans, I am eagerly awaiting the release of your new book. I was so disappointed that I missed your book reading/signing, as I was in the midst of relocating to Patrick AFB, FL. Sadly, I don't think you are coming this way while promoting your new piece. (Hint, hint, you should!) Nevertheless, I hope I can catch you some other time. You, as well as your wife, are amongst my favorite writers. Thank you,
Rachel

Very sorry to hear you have passed away on tour for this book! A great loss for all of us.

James George What a tragic loss; far too young.

Thank you Tony, for inspiring your fellow lovers of history, humor, and journalism. R.I.P.
