In the Saabrina books, Bob Foxen, one of the main characters, is a middle-aged dad with a grown daughter, Rebecca. Bob exudes ‘dadness’ from every pore in his body.
Where book one introduces the relationship between Bob and Rebecca following the death of Bob’s wife, book two spends time exploring their relationship at different points in their lives: Saabrina, Bob’s AI partner and friend, accesses and replays Bob’s memories of Rebecca, plays a six-year-old Rebecca on vacation at a resort (giving every dad one more chance with their little girl), and becomes a teenage Rebecca on an alien world.
Being a father is an essential part of Bob’s character, including his telling dad jokes, setting how he behaves in the stories. From both Bob and myself to the other dads out there on Goodreads, I wish you all happy father’s day.
