The wait was almost over,
Gazing out of the window
I could see the lashing waves,
Witness the vastness of the ocean.
The vastness made me scared,
Scared and alone,
As if it could engulf into itself
My entire existence.
But I was certain
Sure of my love coming to my rescue
Holding my hand firmly
And make me overcome my horror in a glimpse.
As the rise of the Sun was absolute
I was assured of my phone ringing
Almost hallucinating its ring throughout the night
Ringing and announcing my darling’s arrival.
Still the wait was long
Wearing me of my enthusiasm
To see the smile, the glitter in her eyes,
Like the after shower rainbow in the skies.
The heat of the day made me tired
My eyes closed with the phone in my hand
And I was drowning not able to breathe
Hand outstretched in despair.
Then I felt the touch so rare
Awakened by the gentle hug and a sweet kiss
Leaning on to me there was my reason to live
And I realized,
Love is not what you ask for,
But love is what you give.
