7/20/19 - Erotic Space Opera
Welcome to the WymerNovels blog. It has been a while since I’ve posted on my blog. I’ve been hard at work on my new novel, Xeno Tryst, and it is finally published! More will be mentioned on that in a future blog post. Today, I will be discussing the subgenre of Science Fiction that I refer to as Erotic Space Opera. When I use the following disclaimer, it is for good reason.
This novel contains explicit sexual content, which may be considered offensive to some readers, and is intended for adult audiences.
Because the explicit sex scenes are very detailed, the material is certainly not for everyone. There are those who just throw anything explicit into one rejected category. Understanding the difference between Erotica and Smut will depend on your perspective. Literary Smut portrays sex for the sake of sex. It will generally have no plot, no story arc, nor character development. With Erotica, there should always be a plot and well developed characters. Sex can be very explicit, but it only plays a part of the overall story. Also, Erotica is not to be confused with Erotic Romance, which is usually a developing love story where they live happily-ever-after. Because I have merged two subgenres together in my latest Science Fiction novel with Erotica and Space Opera, it creates a unique hybrid. Although I'm not the first author to mix the subgenres, it is my first Erotic Space Opera with a two-book series called Xeno Tryst Duology. The arousing Erotica scenes work very well with the melodramatic situations, host of characters, and galactic adventures that Space Opera is known for.
