I was curious if you have read any books about Vietnam or the Vietnam War, Alarie.

I have a local friend whose poetry is principally about that war: H.C. Palmer. Another poet friend was married to a vet with PTSD and wrote a sad and frightening book about that. Red Silk by Maryfrances Wagner. I'm not fond of reading those poems so don't seek them out.
Jimmy, I think I'm drawn to WWII novels because they usually focus on civilian life, not battles, although they're certainly brutal enough, especially in the death camps. They also give me insight into my parents. Vietnam lit is usually about the military and the PTSD. I know men who were there and Vietnamese who came here and have heard much that I wish I hadn't.
