Two more sleeps...
My debut memoir hits the shelves on Tuesday 4 February, and I've experienced every emotion you might imagine as the day floats closer.
When the first box of books turned up from Allen & Unwin, I mauled the cardboard open to see. Then turned a copy over in my hands. My fear was there would be some glaring error. That I would look foolish. Then I sat immediately, and read the book cover to cover searching for missing chapters, repeat paragraphs, horribly obvious spelling errors.
Yes! Write a book! It will be fun they said!
After the relief that there was no disasters (that I could see) - the disbelief set in. Who was the writer to which the book was attributed? Susan Francis? Who is she?
That half mindless state of terror and disbelief has remained with me - until yesterday. The day I saw the first review in The Saturday Age. A GOOD review. Steven Carroll understood what I was trying to do... a hymn to love he said. And my soul danced. Today has been a joyous time...
