The other night I was taking the clean drinking glasses from the dishwasher rack to put on the cupboard shelves, and I got to thinking about the titles to my 9 published novels. No book of mine has a one-word title which would be the easiest for the readers to remember. So, I went a step further and tried to recall some novels with a one-word title.

Since I like to read classic Westerns, I thought of SHANE (by Jack Schaefer) and HOMBRE (by Elmore Leonard). In the horror genre, you find MISERY and CARRIE (by Stephen King). From there, I debated if the inclusion of a short article such as "the" should be counted as a word. You know, like in such crime novels as THE GODFATHER (by Mario Puzo) or THE GETAWAY (by Jim Thompson).

Anyway, I'll be giving the matter some more thought on my future book projects. One cool advantage to picking a one-word novel title comes when tweeting it. You can save some characters in the 140-character limit that twitter imposes on its users.
