Create Your Own Lane
Consider the dimensions of the ocean and sea. Without thinking numbers but characteristics such as being wide, deep, and vast. It is home to various fish, whales, sharks and sea creatures in general. How easy would it be to find a fish well worth the catch but one may not know that it even exists? You the writer and creator are like that fish in a sea of talent full of life so vast. What can capture the attention of agents, clients, corporations etc? Did they see you and conclude that it is no market for you? Ok, this type of reality can always hurt but don't stop at your craft. "Create Your Own Lane."
Creating your own lane may seem difficult when viewing the work that's ahead of a writer, creator or entrepreneur alike. Although it's great to look ahead to the future take your creativity a project at a time. Do it because you love it which will become the motivation to continue even when it seems no one is looking at you. The more passionate you are about your craft the better the quality of your work will prove. Put love into your craft and in return it will love you back.
What makes you standout among other artist vying for attention, oppurtunity and greatness? Your originality creates a lane for itself. Originality screams louder than fire alarms when exercised strategically. Execute the plans you make and do it in a way that only you would do. Trends aren't a bad thing as much as they are a short lived thing. Be original with your craft, being different is doing different.
Being seen can be quite difficult when creating your own lane without the marketing giants behind you. Social media has opened a door to being discovered beyond the boundaries of conventional press. Post consistently, effectively, and let your personality shine through your posts. The beauty of social media when used for a constructive purpose is being able to engage just about anybody. Reaching people that were virtually impossible is now made possible by social media.
