Crumpled Dreams

An excerpt from Lazarus Remembered, Scene 31.

'With a shaking hand, I'd stuffed the letter into the pocket of my jeans. Later on I lay on my bed holding the unopened envelope. Eventually I folded it and put it into my rucksack.

It was still in my rucksack when I moved to Senghennydd Road. Occasionally I'd take it out and raise it to the dim yellow light to study the handwriting or the post-mark. You could just about make out the date; October 1982 and the word Lazarus. He'd posted it five days after I left.'
