1412
It is always exciting to start a new book, especially after the months of research, doing the Character sheets, Timelines and checking that everything is in place. Then the writing can begin and A Knight and a Spy 1412 is coming to life!
Inevitably there are hitches and I have to rehearse all the fight scenes again with my son-wooden swords only!
This time the story will travel to the French court, and Florence. History as ever is my guide and there was so much intrigue, I can barely keep up.
I will post more news and a cover reveal in due course.

Only 50% of the population lived to see 20. A further half died before they reach 40, and only 5% of people born in this age lived to 65!
A man was therefore considered to be in his prime at 20 years old and mature at 30. Children had a very short childhood, and seven- and eight-year-olds were expected to do a full day’s work. It was a hard world with no tolerance for slacking.
Twelve-year-olds were expected to attend jury service and could judge their peers and adults alike. Teenagers were encouraged to wed and have children as early as possible due to the high mortality rate and the level of infant mortality.
