Starting fresh
As some of you may have noticed, I have been re-releasing some of my previous books again, only new editions with some moderate changes within each. The biggest changes are that I am now using the name Shanon L. Mayer, as opposed to Shanon Mayer or Cheyenne Moon, as I had been doing previously. Quickly after deciding to use a pen name for my Jen Rice series, I discovered exactly how difficult it was to juggle multiple identities. It was because of that difficulty that I decided it wasn't worth maintaining the facade. So here I am, singular name for all of my stories.
Speaking of stories, there is a whole lot more to tell. Just because I hadn't released anything in the last decade or so, that doesn't mean that I haven't been writing. Quite the contrary, I wrote quite a lot during my hiatus: modifications to existing stories, sequels to my existing series (you didn't really think that Chronicles of the Chosen was a trilogy, did you?) and a few brand-new, never-before-seen books that I can't WAIT to show off!
So, in short, I am releasing second editions of older books because it just makes sense. I couldn't imagine a good way to release book #4 of a series when books 1-3 weren't available. If I was a reader and I came across that kind of nonsense, I'd be VERY upset!
Plus, the stories have been reworked just enough that they should survive and make sense for the next number of years without seeming dated and, most personally important to me, they look AWESOME. I am super happy with my new cover artist and his work, the same artist has done all of the works for my reintroduction so far and I couldn't be more pleased.
What's coming next?
Glad you asked.
The adventures of Morgan Lafayette will continue, I already have the next couple books at least through draft form. By the time I am ready to start releasing new stuff there, they will be polished to a shine, so no worries.
Jen Rice has also been busy. Some of you may have read the first edition of Beautiful Monsters and for that, I deeply apologize. Bad decisions were made with how that story should go but I hope that everyone is pleasantly surprised with the changes forthcoming in the second edition of the book. There will, of course, be even more books in her series coming along but I don't want to ruin any of the surprises!
I have brand-new stories, things that hadn't previously seen the light of day. First, releasing later this year, comes the Inland Sea series. This one is set in a magical, mystical world where technology is at a minimum but magic, adventure, and (of course) danger lurks around every corner. I already have three books written for this series and I hope you all love them as much as I do!
Also, I will be making my entry in to soft science fiction (yes, its sci-fi but it's really more of an action/adventure story set in space). I don't have a title for this series yet, but I'll let you know as soon as I decide. As always, there are secrets beneath the surface that will slowly be revealed throughout the series.
I promise, it will not be another ten years before you all hear from me again!
