Mac’s India

The Mac Trilogy

Book 2 – Mac’s India

It was now 1930 and Mac had finally secured her Ph.D. post with the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine. For the next 3 years, she intended to travel the length and breadth of India working for the Women’s Medical Service and researching the effects of tropical diseases on mother and infant mortality.

To achieve her goal, Mac would find herself facing life-threatening action in the Hindu Kush, battling with the Delhi Police over the illegality of child marriage, putting up with unsolicited sexual advances from male colleagues and experiencing a concerted effort by her peers to undermine her progress. As for her private life, the least said about that the better!

Mac knew that fighting a rear-guard action against the misogynistic and racially prejudiced world of British Colonial India would be an uphill battle, fraught with setbacks and detrimental to her own career but she was determined to try. Would this feisty female medic succeed where others had failed? Only time would tell . . .
