I can't say enough about The Lost City. It is kind of like Romancing the Stone, in that the main character is a romance novelist. She's super successful, which is wonderful for her, and yet she indulges in many familiar quirks like reading negative reviews and finishing off a chapter abruptly because she can't think of anything else to write. She doesn't like promoting the book (no surprise there) and even though she has millions of fans, she feels like she's writing garbage-fluff.
She spends half the movie in a sequined outfit which was supposed to be some kind of publicity thing. I'm not sure about that. They used it to get out of a sticky situation, so it did serve a purpose.
Daniel Radcliffe was the villain, and he gave the best performance of all! He was a love-to-hate character with a sparkling wit and an evil British accent. So perfect.
The other thing that was cool was that there was a sort of role reversal of the helpless bimbo character. In this case, Channing Tatum was the eye candy instead of Sandra Bullock, and she was the one who was leading the charge.
Ten stars out of five. I definitely recommend seeing it.
