Hello Hunters and Huntresses,
It's been a while since I've posted here, but what can I say? Goodreads seems all but dead. Most of the authors I know have migrated to Bookbub and I get far too many spam reviews here from people who clearly didn't read the books.
That said, I have met a lot of great writing friends here and I don't want to abandon it entirely. So, the updates. The sequel to Mistress Domination is almost complete. I hope to have it finished and submitted to my publisher in the next week or so. It ramps up the action, comedy, and drama significantly without losing sight of the emotional core of the story and I think fans of the first (who are more vocal on other platforms) will enjoy this world expanding sequel.
I am also participating in another charity anthology. No world on release date yet but it's for an organization that helps support the families of American troops while they're deployed and is very near and dear to my publisher. Personally, I'm always happy to help a good cause and the short I've written (set in the world of By Right of Conquest) was a fun and kinky D&D style adventure with a dark twist I think fans of evil characters will get a kick out of.
So, lots going on and I'm sharing a lot more about it where the audience is. Sorry if I sound a touch bitter but I really liked Goodreads and no one has positive things to say about it in author circles any more.
As a reader, I primarily use Goodreads to keep track of my reading and as a to-read list. (I don't like it as much as the site that it bought out, but that's gone). It is also an excellent tool to find lists of what authors have written, I don't tend to read the reviews much, because I do a pretty good job of identifying which books i want to read. I used to get excited about free books and book giveaways, but I found that they generally took me away from other books that I want to read.
I recognize that for an author the publishing world is difficult to navigate today. It's disheartening to me to see books published solely electronically (potentially killing book stores and libraries). That said, I did enjoy receiving and reading a copy of 6s and 7s from you. I wonder if you ever thought of publishing it under a different name and with a few edits as a YA dystopia. Good luck to you and stay healthy.
