In the wake of celebrating my honorable mention status for Gathered by the Fire in the 2022 New York Book Festival, I remain both frustrated and dumbfounded at how difficult it is to find readers.

I have given away many more books than I have sold (not in this for any money) simply to generate an audience. I think it's accurate to say that at least half my recipients, who by the way, requested a copy, have let that book collect dust. These come from the ranks of casual acquaintances, friends, and yes, family members, the latter being the most frustrating of all.

Assuming my products are worthwhile reads given their success in literary competitions, what do you think is/are the factor(s) preventing folks from taking the time to turn a page?
