A Tug at my Heart

You said “What if I said I love you”
what if I told you my heart skipped a beat
at the thought of hearing those words repeat
I smiled as you started your rhymes so neat
Capturing my mind, into my heart feelings crept in, discreet
You said I have a way with words but you have a way with rhymes, so smooth and complete
Did I ever I tell you I dear listen when you speak?
Reciting your written words, emotion leaks
capturing mood, uniquely your technique

Your poems a tug at my heart
opening my mind to new views that they impart
beautifully executed, a simple work of art
the love and passion within plays their part

Coming together, the stories that have been untold
painted with love and scars the bigger picture unfolds
what the future may be, what the future foretold
the barrier removed, the wall is no more, emotions enrolled

Welcome to my heart free and uncontrolled.

“Pursue what catches your heart, not what catches your eyes.”
