Recasting Unforgotten Night

Let me start this off by saying, my issues with UNFORGOTTEN NIGHT: The series are many. This drama was being sold as romance, BDSM, mafia.
It’s none of othese things. Trust me.
There is nothing romantic about this drama–NOTHING–absolutely nothing. Aside from some hot wax and chains, there isn’t anything sexy or romantic here.
*Clears throat*
And while there is a bit of a mafia story going, it doesn’t feel Mafia-ie – Kamol is entirely too soft…for examble, one of the badguys put his hands on Kim (Kamol’s lover) and at the end, this punk wasn’t missing an arm or his tongue. A real Mafia romance hero would have made this idiot suffer for even THINKING of putting his hands on Kim.
That’s just ONE of my issues with Kamol as a character.
But let’s focus on the issue I want to focus on in this post.
From the director to the writers–but I think the casting needs to be fixed. Before I go any further, however, this post may contain spoilers and this series still have a final episode slated to air SEptember 7, 2022.
Currently, I’m only going to focus on the main chareacters which include the them ain couple and the secondary couple.. To do the entire series would be too much time and this drama is so bad, aint nobody got time for that. Okay, here we go.
Kamol/Kim

Kamol – played by Yoon Phusanu ( Nueng from Paint with Love)
I honestly don’t know if it’s Yoon as an actor or if it’s the way the directors told him to act for the camera. I actually liked his character in Paint with Love and he did have some chemistry with Yacht. Plus he was also in My Ride and he did have some chemistry with Best, but for some reason, I don’t see him as a Mafia boss.

Kim – Played by Ton Saran (he played Choke in Y-Destiny) . Now, in all fairness, I didn’t remember who this was in Y-Destiny, so I had to go back and check and realized, I didn’t like him in this either. His character in Unforgotten Night is regrettable and he has the same facial expression for everything. I know these actors go through workshops and the like to test their chemistry together and how he passed to couple with Yoon in a romance that has BDSM is beyond me.
Replacements
Kamol – Yoon Phusanu – Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, for this round, and say with a better director he could pull off Mafia and with a different co-star there could be more chemistry.

Kim – Saint Sup (Let’s Fight Ghosts & Love By Chance) – While I’m aware his people can be problematic (according to the rumors), I don’t think we should judge him based on the actions/words of others. He is a talented actor and thats pretty much what we should focus on. Saint has proven that he can act and is so good, he can play the Top or the Bottom. He’s also proven that he is professional enough to have chemistry with anyone he’s paired with. We know his range when it comes to emotions, so we know he could pull this off without any issues

Kamol – Nine Noppakao (Lovely Writer & Until We Meet Again) – Let’s be honest, with the bulk of his body and put that body in a suite, Nine has the look. And from what he’s shown, he has the talent to pull off dangerous, seedy Mafia.
From what we’ve seen in Until We Meet Again, Nine is capable of the strong silent characters. He acts with his face as much as his voice and body, and those moments when Kamol is in silent contemplation, would be a lot stronger and have a whole lot more meaning with an actor like Nine. And I think his chemistry with another actor would be amazing since he’s been so strong with partners in what I’ve seen him in. so far

Kim – Perth Tanapon (Love by Chance & The Stranded). Let’s face it, we all adore Perth. There is just something about him that just makes me happy. Watching the way he was with Saint behind the scenes for Love by Chance, I know he could blend well with Nine.
His range would be far better than Ton’s and I think even if he was paired with Yoon for this, it would still work. From what I gleamed from the current casting, Kim is supposed to have a little spice to him. When Ton tries for that, I don’t feel it. I see what he’s trying to go for, but it doesn’t work. We know, from Perth in LBC, that he is capable of this.

Kamol – Top Nathas (Mangkorn from Even Sun & Season 5 THE FACE: Thailand & Oak in 2Gether) – Now, fine, he’s a model and when people hear that they don’t typical expect much, but I see some potential in him.
While Top is fairly new to the acting game, he is one of the things I loved about Even Sun (and aside from Boun/Prem and the scenery, I didn’t really dig much else). He was also supposed to be in a couple other projects that were cancelled – so others see potential in him as well. But I think if he was to be paired with Perth Tanapon (playing Kim) he could pull off an amazing Kamol.
And now for the secondary couple of Baiboon (played by Peat Suchanon) and Khom (Gun Thapanawat). Khom is Kamol’s head bodygaurd and apparently he’s supposed to fall in love with Baiboon. Now, there is a grey area with Baiboon because we don’t seem to know how old he is, and Kom is grown, but they do make a cute couple.
Gun Thapanawat – KhomBoth these actors are new and the replacements I would make here are very minor. I would consider using Gun Thapanawat (Khom) to play Kamol since he has that look about him. The way he moves, the way he looks in a suite, his quiet demeanor. But other than that, I wouldn’t recast this role.
This is Gun’s first role. And for what he is to be playing and the director, I feel like he’s done the best he can with what he was given. The little moments when he’s watching over Baiboon, the tiny smiles breaking his cold demeanor as he loses himself in staring at Baiboon in that soft kind of way that tells you he likes wht he sees, his moments of pretending not to be hurt so he doesn’t worry Baiboon *sighs* – No, I would not replace him unless it was to play Kamol.
Peat SuchanonLet’s talk about Peat Suchanon who plays Baiboon. This is his first real role and he has such a long way to go because Peat is only 21, but like Gun from Golden Blood we need to work on his facial expressions. He needs to learn how to control them and use the right ones for the different emotions. I’m on the fence about replacing him.
BUT
MD NutthapongBaiboon – MD Nutthapong (Dr. Oat from Manner of death & DR. Thara from My Engineer). I adore MD and even though I think he’s older than Gun Thapanawat, I think he would match with Gun amazingly. I mean h e went from his role in My Engineer as a serious doctor, working with a cancer patient to Oat who is adorable and funny.
Okay, so those are my choices–at least some of them. What do you think?
Keep your eyes on the stars,
SusuKhaa
