Just Admit you messed up

I am sitting here, rereading the statements made by Tri Creations about Lay Talay (King in MY ENGINEER), Perth Nakhun (Ram in MY ENGINEER), and Inntouch Naphat (Boss in MY ENGINEER) no longer being with their agency because all three had their contracts expired and didn’t resign with them.

MD Nutthapong Phibunthanakiet

This means, another three members of the My Engineer cast – gone. In my opinion, even with COVID, this is carelessness on the company’s part.

The first to leave was Ryan Peng because they basically threw him under the bus. You can read my rant about that here. Followed by MD Nutthapong Phibunthanakiet who played Dr. Thara. That one should have signalled a downhill slide because he was to be one of the main characters in season 2 as his love story with Frong. The good doctor and Frong were set to be a grown-ass relationship, two men who have been through some things in their lives and were going to help heal each other.

The whole Inntouch thing is connected heavily to Ryan Peng since they were the onscreen couple. And as much as people seem to be whispering it, none wanting to say it out loud, the implosion with Tri Creations and Ryan Peng has affected Inntouch and his career. I mean, since My Engineer he doesn’t have any credits to his name except a project called Your Star which has now been cancelled. So, basically, Tri Creations has been sitting on him since about 2020 without booking him in anything.

Ram/King

The most anticipated coupling of the Thai BL industry had to have been RamKing played by Perth Nakhun and Lay Talay. Their story ended on a cliffhanger that broke most of our hearts and we were promised a season 2. Tri Creations, the company with these actors, teased s2 around mid point of last year and again earlier this year. And each time they did that, we get excited. But now, it is painfully obvious that we won’t be getting a s2 and even if we did, they would have to recast the entire thing.

Why?

Because as far as I know the only main cast remaining are Cooper Patpasit (played Boun) and Poy Kritsanapong (played Duen). Let’s be honest, not many watched My Engineer s1 for the main couple. If these two were the only couple, I would have dropped My Engineer s1 around the three episode mark. They are super stiff, they have no chemistry together and the storyline with them, though having potential, was ruined by bad acting and the irritation of the script.

The chemistry between Lay and Perth was on point. Their storyline was cute and heartfelt at the same time. The little intricacies of Ram, the eagerness of King–and the dogs?? OMG!!

The slow way in which Ram began seeing King as more, the shyness in King when he realize that what he was feeling wasn’t a joke and the way it broke his heart because he wasn’t sure if that was the right thing or not–their storyline was *chef’s kiss*

Lay, Perth, Inntouch

The bottom line is this – Tri Creations and the people behind this series messed up. Even with COVID, there could have been ways to get this made. But long after season one aired, it was said in an inverview that they didn’t even have a script for s2. Now if they do make a s2, it won’t have the same cast, which means the feel could be entirely off (A lot like 2 Moons 2, a zombie that just won’t die).

I think it’s now time for them to just announce that this series isn’t coming back, so that Ram/King fans can move on.

With or without theri announcement, I’m finished waiting.

Look to the stars,

SusuKhaa
