I have had the good fortune of eating truffles many times. My father’s cousin Mario is a retired barber and white truffle hunter. Whenever we visited him in Tuscany his late wife, Maria, would serve us white truffles--the little ones Mario couldn’t sell--ground up with butter and black pepper and spread on a Saltine cracker.
