🎉 Can you believe it? It's FINALLY here!
Aloha friends!
Four years ago, I had the start of an idea for a story that would include Sheriff Jax Turner and would center around his quest for redemption. The cold case for the story would be inspired by a true crime from my hometown, and it would be set at the Oregon coast where I spent several years as a child. The character himself would be a combination of strong, loyal, tenacious men I have known over the years. And the second point of view, Elena, would be a woman who had survived the unimaginable, and has her own need for redemption as well.
That story would become Hidden Pieces, the first book in the Misty Pines mystery series. And I’m excited to say that four years, several drafts, countless edits, and a publishing deal later has led me to HIDDEN PIECES out in the world today!
Being published is definitely a team effort, and from my editor at Level Best Books, to my publicist, Lisa, to the friends who have offered wonderful feedback, and to each one of you, thank you for making this author journey one that I wake up each day and meet with gratitude and enthusiasm.
My only bittersweet is that my mother is no longer here to celebrate with. HIDDEN PIECES is the one book I’ve written that she didn’t get to read or hold in her hands. But I like to think she’s cheering me on from above. So, while the inside cover dedicates this book to my father, a life-long fisherman whose heart was always at the Oregon coast and who I think would have truly liked Jax Turner, this book is also for my biggest fan, my mother.
I hope you will check out Hidden Pieces, the first book in this new series, and enjoy the twists and turns I have in store for you! And if you enjoy, I hope you will tell a friend, ask your library to carry it, and even consider leaving a review!
Until next time, be well.
With much Mahalo and Warm Aloha,
Mary
