August Means...Back to School
Yes, it's true. While the rest of the country, or at least those living in the northeast, are taking their vacations, going to the beach, enjoying their last days of summer, we here in the south (or at least in Kentucky) have already bought the school supplies, splurged on the new school clothes, packed the lunches, loaded up the kids in the minivan or school bus, and...breathed a sigh of relief. Don't get me wrong. I adore my children. But summer is long. And even though I miss the whole vacationing in August thing, I'm ready for school to start when mid-August rolls around. After all, I have a new novel to finish! And the silence I'm enjoying in my home now is bliss!

It's been a while...
Wow, I guess it's been a while since I've had a blog! Looking back over the last things I posted (quite a few) years ago, makes me realize how much I miss giving updates about my work and what I'm doi

The biggest news...I have a new YA novel coming out soon! "Wrecked" (Caitlyn Dlouhy Books/Simon and Schuster) hits stores March 15, 2022! Like my very first YA novel ("Making the Run," HarperCollins, 2001), "Wrecked" is set in rural Kentucky and it deals with some heavy issues, like drug abuse, but it's also about first love and family and friendship. And something more...but I'll reveal that at a later date.
I really hope readers connect with Miri, Fen, and Clay, three 16-18 year olds, who tell the story from their three different points of view. I hope the story resonates with readers who are interested in a gritty view of life in a rural America where sometimes drugs appear to be the only way out. More soon!
