Tears and Progress
I have revised up to chapter eleven in my thirty-two chapter novel. Which may not seem like a lot, but it does feel like it. I have also cried twice during this process and am hoping this translates to tears for the reader...
Not enough is shared about the revision process, or how many revisions the average author goes through per book. It has been a journey of learning for me. As well as teaching myself to accept that no one writes anything perfectly the first time...and that it is okay to go back and fix things.
It's been difficult to accept that writing takes time and that a story worth writing is worth writing well but I want this book to be the best it can be. I want it to be as close to the story that's haunted my dreams for decades that it can get.
So I have to accept that it's going to take time and hard work and that it is okay to yell at my manuscript and tear out my hair and maybe curse my brain for ever thinking it can do this - so long as it gets done.
And it will get done. I am closer than I have ever been. I have things set up for when it's all done and ready to publish.
I will do this thing...and I hope whoever is reading this will stick around to see it happen. ^.-
