Apple Inc. has been in the news lately and it’s not because of a new product launch, but rather for ebook price fixing. The lawsuit, filed by the United States Department of Justice, claims Apple colluded with five major publishers (Penguin, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, HarperCollins, and Hachette) to corner the market on ebook prices. Basically, just like Apple controls its iTunes store, it also wants to control what the consumer pays for an ebook through the use of an agency model.
