I woke in a dark room, to the sounds of muffled speech beyond my door. I could hear a woman's voice, someone stroppy, two men, clearly cowed and a third which was making garbled sounds elsewhere.
"Well, thank goodness it didn't turn out to be rabies, but we know it bites." she was saying.
"Boss, what are we going to do with it?" one of the men said.
"We ought to just let it go. Stay well clear of that creature." the other suggested.
"Oh come on. It's clearly human... probably." The female decreed.
I couldn't really tell what they were talking about, and so amused myself, making a hanging nest in the corner of my room out of bedclothes, a down pillow, and my own spit.
